Description Although the topic of gender-based violence is not entirely new to Czech theatre, after 2021, significantly more productions have begun to appear that focus thematically around this phenomenon. Often, theatres themselves directly refer to the topic, whether through press releases, accompanying debates or printed materials. Productions with rape as a central theme are appearing across artistic genres and types - opera, ballet, drama - and no longer only as part of fringe alternative projects, but also on the stages of national and other "mainstream" theatres. The aim of this paper is to present the most prominent perspectives with which Czech creative teams approach the representation of the phenomenon of rape and to reflect on the problematic aspects of the artistic strategies in question. The author would like to focus on the way in which the given representations enter the current tense debate around gender-based violence and how they co-create this debate.
