Description Despite the well-known key role of Vladimír Helfert in the interest in the performance of pre-romantic musical repertoire since the 1920s, it is necessary to take into account the distinctly trans-regional tradition of oratorio productions (typically Handel's oratorios) within the defined theme. Its roots at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries in the sense of the performance of oratorios usually already in concert settings (and thus building again on earlier performances directly in churches and oratorios) are reflected in the case of the capital of Moravia, among other things, in the extensive repertoire of Winiker's Music Lending Library. Similarly, it is necessary to ask questions about, for example, the archive of the Brno Musicverein and its possible connections with the contemporary musical activity of the 1920s and 1930s, in which the usually once-a-year oratorio productions (in the case of the largest cities, the sum of several individual productions by different musical societies) represented a welcome repertoire diversification and the possibility of mass involvement of amateur singers thanks to the key role of choirs in these works.
