Description Alfred Fuchs, a Catholic journalist and writer, was one of the most consistent advocates of democracy during the First Czechoslovak Republic. In the context of the political changes in Europe in the 1930s, his articles consistently criticised undemocratic ideologies and regimes, especially Nazism. The paper focuses on a content analysis of his articles against the Nazi regime published in newspapers from 1933-1938 and seeks to address what he saw as the dangers of this ideology, what role his religious faith played in his views, which specific events in Germany he focused on, how his criticism evolved during the period under review, and what he saw as a possible way out of the situation at the time.
