| Description | A small museum is defined as a museum with a low number of staff, a limited budget, limited exhibition space, collections of a more local nature and lower visitor numbers. Although they are probably the largest segment of the total number of museums worldwide, small museums have not yet met with adequate research interest. The phenomenon of small museums is also strongly visible in the Czech museum sector, but even here it is not sufficiently mapped. The publication therefore reflects key theoretical and methodological works of international provenance, which it verifies through its own research in the local environment. It focuses on their functioning and the fulfilment of the main professional museum activities, taking into account museum presentation, education and the connection of small museums to the local community. |
