Description | The article provides an analysis of news headlines and articles with respect of the three components of register - the ideational, interpersonal and textual functions. The approach is grounded in the context of functional styles in the tradition of the Prague School and functional and systemic linguistics of Michael Halliday. The article notes the interplay of the three functions and identifies several strategies used for strengthening the interpersonal function of media discourse. |
