Description Apollonius Rhodius and Valerius Flaccus were dealing with the same themes. Nevertheless, their ways of story-telling are completely different, as it becomes apparent for example in the case of Lemnos-adventure. In such a short passage one notices that the Roman poet was fascinated with the gloomy colours of his narrative and emphasized pathological phenomena and horror scenes. Apollonius Rhodius was a rather keen observer of normal human life which he depicted with a scholarly exactness.
