Description We can find surces for research on two types of unique Sorbian chordophones in all three main components of the work of Ludvík Kuba - in his literary work, music collection work and artistic work. In his Sorbian travels, Kuba took note of the state of the occurrence, use construction, terminology, repertoire and forms of the small and large Sorbian violins at that time. His multi-layered testimony is valuable above all due to the fact that it was done at last minute - it captures the fading phase of the folkloric life of small and large Sorbian violins. Ludvík Kuba's observations, however, are not free of several factual doubts, which stem from the character of Kuba's research itself; in many aspects it did not take the form of systematic research, but rather, it consisted of random isolated probes.
