Description The paper stands as a contribution to everyday life studies and discusses the problem of envoys visiting royal and princely courts in the late Middle Ages. The study is based on the analysis of the council accounts kept by the Moravian royal town of Znojmo (Znaim) in 1421 and 1422. In these years the town was at first under the control of King Sigismund, and then it was pawned to Duke Albert of Austria. The author collects the council accounts and the information of other primary sources with reference to envoys sent to Sigismund or Albert, puts these data in historical context, devises a typology of the diplomatic missions and shows, how important these undertakings were for the town as well as for the king and the duke.
