Description The goal of the paper is to analyze possible word-order positions of conditional auxiliary forms of the Czech verb byti, which is traditionally considered to be enclitic, in the St. Wencelsus Bible. The main aim of the paper is: 1) to detect all possible word-order positions of these auxiliary forms and to quantify them; 2) to explain the factors that cause the variable placement of these enclitics (rhythmical factors, grammatical factors, factors of the functional sentence perspective). The analysis is also diachronically oriented: it examines how the Baroque Czech bible translation reflects changes in the word-order of this auxiliary.
