Description The use of coercitive spells with limited duration, i.e. until the scope of the spell gets fulfilled, is found in antiquity not only in the context of love spells but also in the context of other, contemporary spells – in the so called prayers for justice. The application of the same coercitive formulas in both contexts of these magical texts, found in very distant regions, reflects a vivid process of influencing, interchanging and altering the magical tradition, mainly grounded in the South-East Mediterranean area.
