| Description | The paper deals with late antique Virgilian centos; the focus is specifically on seven anonymous mythological epyllia surviving in the codex Salmasianus of the Anthologia Latina. Using the theory of intertextuality as a methodological basis of an analysis of the cento technique, the author identifies characteristic strategies of imitation applied in the literary form under consideration, which constitutes a highly specific mode of reception of canonical poetry. |
