Description The aim of this qualitative study is to analyze the experience of parenting and studies of female doctoral students with young children. The partial aim of this study is to understand the impact of parenthood not only on the course of doctoral study of these women but also on their further career in academic environment. This study presents first results from research undertaken in 2016. Its analysis enabled the author to identify the three main roles that such women are experiencing. The paper also focuses on the expectations placed upon the workplace environment of the women. The degree to which the expectations have been met is presented as a subjective perception of the workplace environment of the individual women.
