Citation MALÝ, Tomáš. The Social Aspects of Catholic Renewal in Seventeenth-Century Bohemia and Moravia. In International conference „Confessional Politics in Early Modern East Central Europe“, Budapest, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 30. 11. - 1. 12. 2017. 2017.
Description In my paper, I leave aside the social-disciplinary perspective and the activities of the establishment in the Catholic confessionalization, and I focus on moments that played a significant role in the process of the internalisation of the post-Tridentine religious principles. I am interested in the issue of building and adopting Catholic identity in connection with the social structure and geographic-cultural conditions in two royal cities, Prague and Brno. The aspects under scrutiny – communication/book printing, the activities of the aristocracy, Church topography and legal tradition – demonstrate local differences in the conditions for the reception of what is usually labelled as “Re-Catholicization”.
