Description As the Czech higher education is in the universal phase, we have to face various new entrants. These new entrants have different preconditions (e.g. sense of integration into a new environment). Tinto divides the integration process into academic and social integration. The integration process influences students' achievement besides other things. If a student's integration process is not successful, a student is more likely to fail during the final exams at the end of the first semesters. Therefore it is connected to the early school leavers' topic. This paper's primary goal is to present the theoretical framework of academic and social integration, based on Czech and foreign literature and research studies.
