Description | Architectural drawings, plans, and models fall into two large groups. The first group is primarily related to the architect’s original creative idea, while the second is produced later to accurately depict the building’s form, represent it in a simplified manner, or make adjustments after it has been completed. In these cases, the plans are connected to the reception or interpretation of a constructed three-dimensional building. Although these floor plans, sections, elevations, or three-dimensional models may appear to be drafted in the same way, such drawings, referred to as architectural ricordi, can be characterized as a distinct medium from the architect’s original design. These records and new drawings can serve various purposes, In this context, ricordo, a term derived from painting and drawing, takes on a specific meaning in architecture. During the early modern period, architect-draftsmen not only copied the original models but often transformed them into new, original solutions. |
