Dear colleagues,
Our faculty is inseparably linked with the symbol of the owl. For many years, in the era before the unified visual style of the university, the owl was part of our faculty logo. We encounter the owl atop the Faculty of Arts MU sceptre at matriculations, graduations, and other academic ceremonies. A piece of a Linden tree that once stood in the courtyard of the main faculty campus was also carved into the shape of an owl. This owl oversaw the dean's meetings and deliberations and slept in his office for several years. When we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Masaryk University and our faculty, a special edition of owls was generated using 3D printing. And what to give yourself for this 105th anniversary? We want to adopt a real, live owl. Deciding which particular owl to adopt won't be easy. We'll need your help. So please participate in the vote.

All the owls you can choose from live in the Brno Zoo. Adoption consists of paying the annual costs of breeding the animal. It is not a specific individual that is adopted, but the species. More details can be found here.
You can choose up to two candidates from five. The vote is secret. It is open to all members of the academic community of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University up to and including 10 November 2024. The result of the vote will be announced during the Humanities Week Celebration on Tuesday 19 November 2024 at 2:00 PM in Room B2.13.
