Citace
Popis It has been acknowledged by literary critics that J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, especially its latter half, contains a number of elements of dystopian literature, be it its settings, mood, themes or the generally dark and oppressive atmosphere of the individual installments. The present paper will compare the series with Sigmund Neumann’s classical study of comparative politics, Permanent Revolution, to explore to what extent the political system of Rowling’s fictional universe fits the standard definition of totalitarian states according to political theory, and whether the series can be placed alongside dystopian classics, such as George Orwell, Aldous Huxley or Yevgeny Zamyatin.
