What will you learn?
The goal of this Bachelor’s degree study programme is to prepare experts qualified to work in education and development with people of all age groups. The graduate is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competences acquired through the study of theoretical and applied disciplines, emphasizing a broader theoretical-pedagogical and human-science basis on one hand and application on the other. The graduates are prepared to continue their studies in a Master’s degree study programme building on the knowledge, skills, and competences acquired in the Bachelor’s degree study programme.
“The roots of education are bitter but the fruit is sweet.”
The study programme in pedagogy focuses on developing the competences relevant to planning, preparing, and undertaking empirical research and on developing the abilities and skills to explore a diversity of issues in education through theoretical study. Graduates can use their widely applicable competences in working with specialized texts and advanced communication skills in a wide variety of jobs as well as in lifelong learning.
Practical training
The bachelor’s program in education also includes a practicum, which allows students to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. Through this practicum, students gain insight into the operations of various types of educational and counseling institutions and develop their practical skills and professional orientation.
The practicum can be completed at leading facilities at Masaryk University (e.g., the Teiresiás Center or the Simulation Center of the MU Faculty of Medicine – SIMU), as well as directly at the Institute of Educational Sciences or at external institutions such as schools, non-profit organizations, or other educational facilities. In addition, students can choose their own placement based on their professional interests.
The internship focuses primarily on active participation in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities and represents an important part of the program that contributes to the development of professional competencies and better orientation toward future career opportunities.
