Frontiers in Permissionless Innovation April 4, 2019 | Atlantis Paradise Island, Nassau, Bahamas IHS and the Center for Growth and Opportunity at Utah State University will host a full-day seminar preceding the Association of Private Enterprise Education's (APEE) Annual Meeting to explore some of the policy barriers innovators experience when creating and distributing new technology. Participants will hear from keynote speaker, Adam Thierer from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, as well as panelists whose focuses range from emerging technology in the healthcare industry, distributed technology and their applications, and the future of energy. The Humane Studies Fellowship (HSF) deadline has been extended to March 31! HSF is a renewable, non-residency award of up to $15,000 that is available to current and future students in Ph.D. programs to help offset the costs of graduate school and career advancement. Focusing on early-stage graduate students, this seminar teaches participants how to craft their research agendas, make an informed decision on how to choose an advisor and mentor, as well as the importance of publishing and networking. Students will be guided by academic mentors including Dr. Gary Uzonyi, Assistant Professor of Political Science at University of Tennessee and Dr. Audrey Redford, Assistant Professor of Economics at Western Carolina University IHS will provide a $100 honorarium, travel stipend, hotel accommodations, and meals. at cds@theihs.org for more information. Our Summer Graduate Research Workshop brings together graduate students that are preparing their research for publication and presentation. Over the course of the weekend, attendees will present their research and receive feedback from peers and faculty mentors in their individual disciplines. In addition, they will have the unique opportunity to learn more about our faculty mentors’ current work, other graduate students research, and network over meals and receptions with other aspiring academics. IHS will provide a $100 honorarium, travel stipend, living accommodations, and meals.
