Theatricality and performativity in contemporary Czech live art

Popis In this lecture, theoretical and analytical approach is combined in order to present a variety of contemporary Czech or live arts as well as to try the potential of theoretical concept of performativity. Several theoretical approaches will be sketched in (Erika Fischer-Lichte, Patrice Pavis, Richard Schechner, Aleksandra Jovicevic and Ana Vujanovic) and compared and criticised. Current trends and dominant artist and cultural phenomena will be introduced. The first part of the lecture (23. 5. 2014) will be dedicated to contemporary Czech theatre and its analysis via concepts of performativity. The second part of the lecture (30. 5. 2014) will target on materiality on stage and current tendencies in performance design and space. The specific position of the spectator, his conceptualisation (Shuhey Hokosawa, Jacques Ranciere) and her addressing in contemporary theatrical practice will be also discussed. The lecture will be illustrated by examples from Czech dance, musical object and drama performances and also from visual arts.
