Citace
Popis Sigismund Huler, also referred to as Red Deer in several sources, is a classic example of a courtier whose steep social and economic rise led to an even steeper and more dramatic fall. His career is relatively well known, and this paper will therefore address the following main questions. What enabled Huler to succeed in court service, and what earned him the favour of King Wenceslas IV? How did he expand his possessions and achieve his financial advancement? What were his duties as Bohemian sub-treasurer and how did he use his office? What role did he play in the contemporary political conflicts of Wenceslas IV? The aim is to find out whether his personality fulfils all the characteristics of a "grey eminence". His name does not appear often in non-Bohemian sources, and his personality seems to be important mainly for the local context. He is one of the king's so-called favourites, but his network of social and diplomatic contacts was not strong enough to save him from death on the scaffold.
