My research seeks to expand the scholarly work on the so-called anarcha-Indigenist theory—an intersection between Indigeneity, anarchism, environmentalism, Indigenous feminism, and other liberation movements—with special attention dedicated to animal liberation that will be analyzed through the lens of the decolonial animal ethic. Furthermore, I apply anarcha-Indigenism as a framework to the analysis of resistance art, or the so-called artivism (art + activism), especially to resistance literature written by Indigenous authors from North America, namely Canada, Hawaii, and southern Mexico. Seeking parallels between resistance movements and artivism that flourish in these regions is the final aim of my doctoral research. The aim of this project is to introduce anarcha-Indigenism as a theoretical and practical framework as well as discuss its potential and challenges it faces.
